TAKING YOUR 4X4 TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Alu-Cab started life building aluminium canopies and pride themselves on being canopy specialists. But why aluminium? It’s stronger than fibreglass – This fully recyclable metal doesn’t rust, weather or crack. Plus, Alu Cab canopies are typically lighter than steel units.
Besides the advantages of aluminium construction, Alu Cab canopies have been designed for ease of use; so you can bolt on things like cupboards, ammo box slides, and jerrycan & gas bottle holders. What’s more, the roof has been designed in such a way that you can bolt on a roof-top tent, you don’t need a roof rack!
Inside the canopy, the roof cross braces double as tie-down rails, as does internal base frame, so you can attach accessories to the canopy’s interior sides or roof without any drilling. Or you can use the tie-down rails as lashing points to secure your cargo.
This versatility means that it’s entirely possible to use your canopy as a workhorse during the week and an overlanding unit on the weekends and holidays. The best of both worlds!
THE ULTIMATE IN OVERLAND VEHICLE ACCESSORIES, CONVERSIONS & ALUMINIUM CANOPIES
Alu Cab are passionate about delivering high quality, innovative vehicle accessories and conversions and are a leading manufacturer of aluminium canopies and campers amongst other specialised products, for both commercial and recreational use.
True to their name, Alu-Cab build most of their products from aluminium. It’s a wonderful metal to work with, it’s strong but very light, it lasts a long ime and doesn’t corrode. In many cases the products outlast the vehicle they are built for.
Named after the sturdy wagon used by early explorers in South Africa, the aluminium Ossewa is the Alu-cab answer to comfortable camping in the wild. This self-sufficient 4-sleeper camper offers everything an adventurous family could ever need, including good storage. It carries a 90-litre water tank, and its own battery to power lights, tyre compressor, fridge and various others. Solar power and a battery management system ensure that your battery is kept charged. If your travels should take you back to civilisation, the Ossewa is also wired to accept 220 V power from the local grid.
Sleeping quarters are comprised of two large double beds, one ‘upstairs’ and one ‘downstairs’ (both featuring a handy USB charger). The mattresses are made from dual-density foam for greater comfort.
Keeping clean isn’t a chore. The unit’s hot water geyser works on gas (you can carry two gas bottles) or 220 V, and runs out to a shower cubicle complete with shower tray. Naturally, this hot water is also available for washing up.
On the culinary side you’ll enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen for four. Essential features are a 90-litre National Luna fridge and a pull-out gas stove, with cutlery drawer and work surface. Other ingredients include four camp chairs, a camping table and braai gear. And don’t forget the wine bottle holder! Keeping your cool behind the stove is easy thanks to the 270° awning. Optional extras include rear work lights and of roof load bars for boards or bikes.
Alu-Cab makes the most rugged and durable expedition equipment in the world, and the Alu-Cab rooftop tent is no exception. With a strong aluminum shell Alu-Cab tents are the only tent on the market that offers the ability to mount an addition roof rack to the tent for carrying addition gear and equipment.
Like all Alu-Cab products, the Awnings are built tough! Built in the stormy Cape, they are designed to stand up to strong winds and inclement weather. And with its aluminium-coated canvas it’s equally good at providing the coolest shade in desert climes.
But one of the most popular features of the awning is the ease with which it’s opened and closed, which is easily a one person operation. The unit has four arms, each containing a tie-down strap for really serious weather (a peg bag & pegs are also supplied); one leg has a drop down pole for breezy conditions but in fine weather you can get by without deploying it.
The Alu Cab roof conversion has to be the ultimate 2-sleeper overland solution. Not only does it offer a sleeper compartment which is easy to erect and access, it also offers unparalleled internal living space.
After climbing out the vehicle to flip the roof up - a process which takes just seconds - you can access the sleeper compartment from inside the vehicle. Which is great news if you’re overnighting in lion country! A flip-up panel in the sleeper compartment allows you to stand up in the vehicle – so no more getting dressed and undressed while bent over double. What’s more, the roof can be closed with your bedding in place.
This conversion offers a marginal increase in roof height, this means less stress about parking and manoeuvring your vehicle.
